What you should know
At Petsmill, we recommend changing your dog’s food gradually. Although our pet food is nutritionally balanced and made from high quality ingredients, your dog’s digestion may be sensitive to an instant change in food brands, resulting in an upset tummy and loose stools.
The simplest way to change foods is to blend the current pet food with the new for seven to ten days.
For the initial two or three days, opt for a mix that consists of 25% new food. If there are no signs of intolerance, increase the blend to a 50/50 mix. Feed this combination to your dog for a couple of days, then increase the mix to 75%, and then finally to 100% new food.
If at any stage your dog experiences an upset stomach or loose stools, delay increasing the proportion of new food until the problem resolves.
